VRINDAVAN, INDIA – We just got sad news from Vrindavan that His Grace Aindra prabhu suddenly left his body in Vrindavan few hours back. There was an accidental gas leak in his room in Vrindavan. He was found by devotees looking for him to be paying his obeisances to his Deity and Salagramas. He was in samadhi in that position. He was scheduled to do his regular dressing today morning of Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar,  Vrindavan.

Devotees would very much miss this great devotee & kirtan singer. His appearance day was celebrated this year on Papamocani Ekadasi, 12th of March 2010. He spend his last 25 years in Vrindavan inspiring millions.

About His Grace Aindra Prabhu

H.G. Aindra Prabhu received harinama-diksa in 1973 from A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in Washington D.C. For many years, he was serving as a pujari at the temple and was regularly going out on harinama-sankirtana and book distribution in that area. After several visits to Sri Vrindavan dhama, he then got the inspiration within his heart to re-inaugurate the 24hour-kirtana which had originally been established by Srila Prabhupada in 1975 at the Krishna-Balarama Mandir.

In 1986, Aindra Prabhu came to settle down in Vrindavan dhama and has been co-ordinating and guiding this 24 hour-kirtana since! Not only is he inspiring the local devotees andnumerous visitors with his daily kirtanas, but his wonderful recordings spread the mellow of Sri Vrindavan dhama all over the planet.

We have some of his videosaudio here.

His official website hosted by his followers.

Today also happens to be disappearance day of Sri Vakresvara Pandita, the great dancer during the time of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

He was alone in his room worshiping His beloved Deities when apparently there was a gas leak from his cylinder. Some devotees heard a sound and there was some smell, but no one knew from where it came. Devotees knocked on Aindra’s door, but there was no response all night. His door is very thick, and there is one trap door in it. In the morning when Aindra prabhu didn’t come to the temple to dress Sri Sri Radha Shyamasundara, the devotees then could understand that something serious had happened. With difficulty they broke open the trap door, and only one devotee, Adi Kesava Das, was small enough to enter the room. When he entered he saw that the entire room was black and there was in disturbance everywhere. It appeared that Aindra might have lit a match in the room and that caused the gas in the air to ignite and burn the room. Aindra was behind the altar. It looked as if he had tried to open the window, but was unsuccessful, so he offered his obeisances behind Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, and left his body in that position. When Adi Kesava found him, Aindra was already long gone, and his body was still offering obeisances.

That he did NOT have burns to 100% of his body that has been wildly speculated. There was minor burns on his knees and hands and his bottom lip as he was kneeling in front of the gas burners. His face and chest was reddened but there was no blistering of his skin. Of course due to being over eight hours in the position of paying his obeisances there was some lividity present at the burn sites (his face and chest).
