To Mumbai with Love

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Imbued with love from all of us in Kuala Lumpur, this mail is offered unto YDG’s lotus feet.

This episode of Gurudeva’s is amazing revelation that shows how much love the devotees have for Gurudeva. In an almost unprecedented show of unity and solidarity in ISKCON, the devotees are praying together for Gurudeva.

Gurudeva, your love for us is immense and irresistible. How can one not reciprocate equally or even more?

It is our humble realization that from your present condition, Gurudeva is showing us that the most powerful binding force is real love and trust amongst the devotees. YDG has bound us together with a rope of love.

All these intense prayers are making us develop more faith in Krishna and increase our own purity. ISKCON world in now united in prayers.

Nevertheless, it is very painful to be away from Gurudeva’s physical presence. For solace we scramble through Srila Prabhupada’s pages of instructions that serve as a panacea for a disciple in anguish:-

“To feel separation from the Spiritual Master or Krishna is very good position. That means one who is in pure love with Krishna and His Representative, Spiritual Master, he thinks always of Them. And this thinking process is Krishna consciousness. If we can think always of Krishna even in separation, that is Krishna Consciousness. And in the absolute platform, there is no difference of separation and meeting. The separation is also meeting, rather in separation one relishes the loving relationship more tasty. So don’t be disappointed that you are separated from me, I am also always thinking of you how you are making progress there….” – SP’s letter 1968

It is amazing to see how Srila Gurudeva have managed to bring together so many devotees in Kuala Lumpur who are now constantly praying for Gurudeva’s speedy recovery.

We have placed Gurudeva’s picture next to Srila Prabhupada in the temple hall with a small ghee lamp burning continuously as a sign of our burning hope for Gurudeva’s recovery.

In the evenings devotees get-together to read Narasimha Kavaca and then we watch a video lecture of Gurudeva to increase our smaran of Gurudeva’s divine exploits.

Recently, a JSSS istagosthi at HG Tattvavit pr’s home to pray and glorify Gurudeva. HH Bhaktivrajendra Nandana Maharaja was present for the sat-sang to inspire us.

During every Sunday Feasts, meetings or gatherings, devotees are chanting Narasimha prayers. Sometimes one round of japa is chanted. On two Saturdays, akanda bhajan was held in the temple.

Individually, disciples and non-disciples alike have taken extra vratas for Gurudeva.

Our humble self in daily doing a half-day fast and chanting extra rounds for Gurudeva besides other prayers.

In 2006, Gurudeva made the following five requests out of disciples:-

1. To chant good 16 rounds daily
2. To take care of devotees
3. To take part in preaching seva
4. To assist Gurudeva in personal seva
5. To post Vyasa puja reports for year 2006

It is hearty to note that our godbrothers/sisters are focused in their sadhana, now more than ever.

The spiritual counselors are continuing to do their seva to assist, guide and nurture devotees. At SJMKL, we are trying to train all devotees in the same mood of caring for others, irrespective of whether one is a counsellor or not. This shall be the prevailing mood in our yatra.

Over and above these, the best offering we thought that will be please Gurudeva immensely is to increase our preaching seva, especially during this Damodara month.

As we promised in September this year at Port Dickson during the 3rd Kuala Lumpur convention, four devotees from Sri Jagannatha Mandir Kuala Lumpur have successfully completed our international Damodara promotional tour of India, Singapore, Bali, Mauritius and South Africa.

We are hearing positive news from many of these yatras now. The local devotees there are seeing the positive results of Damodara preaching. A report compilation will be presented to Gurudeva soon.

Locally, a few yatras in Malaysia are doing fabulously well in spreading the glories of Lord Damodara. The true preaching spirit seems to have been rejuvenated in Malaysia in this month by the mercy of Srimati Radharani, for this month belongs to Sriji.

We remember last year, Gurudeva was presenting the results of Sri Jagannatha Mandir’s Damodara preaching progress at different temples world-over during the course of Gurudeva’s travel. Many yatras were inspired by it. Similarly, we are sending periodical reports now to be read to Gurudeva.

We are offering all the success of our preaching to Gurudeva and are praying to the Supreme Thief Lord Damodara not to ‘steal’ our Gurudeva from us. The separation from Gurudeva will sorely be felt especially during the annual December Ratha Yatra season in Malaysia.

The aspiring and shelter candidates for diksa are geared to come for the Gaura Purnima festival 2009 in Mayapur to seek Gurudeva’s mercy.

We have been utterly foolish not have valued and cherished Gurudeva’s greatness and compassion all these years. We realise our fallacies now. We want to repent.

Like a true acarya, Gurudeva has to endure much suffering just to teach us to become more serious and steadfast in Krishna consciousness. To teach us to become more surrendered to the Gurudeva. To remain united to expand the mission of Mahaprabhu.

We pray may the Victory Flag of Gurudeva continue to fly for many more years to come. We NEED Gurudeva. The ISKCON world NEEDS Gurudeva.

It is our cherished desire to see once again Gurudeva leading the Navadvipa Mandala Parikrama, performing the Narasimha Arati in Mayapur, dancing at Ratha Yatras, going on japa walks and while speaking on Mahaprabhu’s pastimes, call out in ecstasy, ‘Gaaaauuuuraaaaangaaa.’
